Symmetrical Squares - Cross Stitch Pattern by Works by ABC
Design books from centuries ago contain so much inspiration. I found a number of small symmetrical square motifs in a book published in 1603 that I thought looked as fresh and modern as many of the geometric cross stitch designs published today. The designers of 400 years ago really were creating timeless beauty. You could stitch all eighteen of these squares as I have as a band sampler or take advantage of any type of layout - two by nine, three by six - or just pick nine or sixteen and create a square. Stitch just one and you can make it an ornament or a scissors fob.
