Isabella Hopper 1834 - Sampler Reproduction Pattern by Cross Stitch Antiques
A typical red marking sampler, it could be of English or American origin. Isabella used red cotton threads on a loosely woven course ground linen. She personalized it with three sets of initials all ending with the letter H, most likely representing close family members. Isabella made use of every spare space to place her lovely double alphabet, numbers up to 27, eleven dividing bands, a row stitched all over one thread and a religious motto: Remember now thy Creator in the Days of Thy Youth. Historical information on Marking Samplers included.
