Thread Legend
Clara and Maude’s stunning, monochrome sampler has been reproduced with Soie Surfine by Au Ver à Soie. We have provided some suggested shades of red in Soie Surfine, Soie 100.3, Soie d’Alger, and DMC. Estimated thread quantities for varying linen counts and the number of strands of thread used have been listed below.
Soie Surfine: 2106, 2107, 2500, 2650 or 2681
Soie 100.3: 109, 664, or 779
Soie d’Alger: 943, 944, 2924, 2926, or 4624
DMC: 321 or 817
The model was stitched on 53/63ct Legacy Linen in Sycamore Seedpod. For alternative counts we would suggest Legacy Linen Foxtail Millet in 45ct, Legacy Linen Corn Tassel in 37ct and Legacy Linen Victoria Sponge Cake in 30ct.
As only one colour is required, we have given floss usage in metres. A spool of Soie Surfine and Soie 100.3 is 50 metres, a skein of Soie d’Alger 35 metres, a hank of Soie d’Alger 315 metres, and a skein of DMC 48 metres.
2 Strands: 28ct 970 metres, 32ct 864 metres, 36ct 768 metres.
1 Strand: 36ct 384 metres, 40ct 346 metres, 46ct 298 metres, 56ct 250 metres, 53/63ct 240 metres.
LINEN SIZES
The design area is 433 stitches (w) x 441 stitches (h). Our calculations have included a 3″ margin for finishing and framing. If working on an uneven linen such as 53/63ct, we would recommend that you orientate your linen so that the higher count is on the horizontal for this particular sampler.
