Guess what I found!

Posted on April 09, 2014 by Mary-Anne Tiller

Guess what I found this afternoon....the floor behind my desk!It may seem to be a strange thing to celebrate, but I just haven't been able to get on top of the incoming stock for what has seemed months.  Mostly because I needed to get rid of stock that has gone well past it's use by date to make room for the exciting new things like the Medici wool replacement "Bella Lusso" made from Australian merino wool, spun in Italy for an American needlepoint shop.  How's that for global networking!   But now I have finished, moving threads from hook to hook,  buying new shelving & display units (on wheels for next time I move things around) and pricing & putting out stock.  And after all this the added bonus of....a floor behind my desk!  It's small things that excite one!

It is scary what one finds when taking advantage of a Year 12 boy's need for cash.  My friend's son has finished his exams & I have employed him to empty out our storeroom and we will sort into trash, recyclable and TREASURES.  Amongst the Treasures I have found 2 plastic storage bins full of SEMCO rug hooking wool - you know the sort it is about 3inches long bits that you hook through 3 to 5 count canvas to make a rug.  Thereby giving yourself  carpal tunnel syndrome...but that is another story.  Here it is, the secret stash/hidden treasure ....  I am selling for $1 a bag of 10 skeins of wool, no breaking up of colours.  As is where is......

A new addition to the A Stitch in Time family

Posted on November 20, 2013 by Mary-Anne Tiller

Those of you who have come into the brick & mortar shop in Sandy Bay have met my 4-legged companions, Boof the gentle German Shepherd and Sassy the adorable Pembroke corgi.  Unfortunately back in August we lost Boof, he was 14 years old, stiff & slow, but we missed him terribly, as did Sassy his doggy sister.  Here they are last summer at the dog beach in Kingston, Tasmania.

So, being dog lovers, my partner & I discussed another Shepherd, a Bernese mountain dog got serious consideration.  Then out of the blue came a phone call from a lovely lady who had been told that we maybe looking for a corgi & she had a male, 4 month old, black & white Cardigan corgi, would we be interested?  My response was "Yes!", of course, my partner's was a more considered "Perhaps".

Off we went to be vetted by the breeder, to meet the puppy and to introduce Sassy to her potential brother.  All went well, we were approved, Sassy sort of approved in a big sister almost tolerant way and my partner fell in here he is, Oscar, the latest 4-legged furry in our clan!

I just love gingerbread!

One of the nicest smells is gingerbread cooking or gingernut cookies after they have been dunked in my coffee.  So when Canadian designer Victoria Sampler brought out the first of her stitched Gingerbread houses, I just couldn't resist. So added to my "Yet to be Done-but I am really" stash are:-

And there is another just out, The Gingerbread Bakery.  What am I going to do?.......
